Who is Bretta? Bretta Bracali-Lundell is an American born opera singer - a soloist with the Metropolitan Opera and a performer of leading roles with opera companies around the world. Bretta is fluent in six languages - German, English, French, Norwegian, Spanish and, of course, Italian. She began studying languages in her youth, later moved to Italy where she studied in Palermo and later received her Diploma from the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome. Married to an Italian, she lived for ten years in Rome before returning to New York, where she lives and teaches today.
Summer Immersion Course in Sicily
Using her unique teaching method, Bretta has taught hundreds of people to speak Italian - these include opera singers, concert artists, actors, classical musicians, CEOs, radio hosts, poets and travelers. She attributes the success of her method to her well-trained ear, her ability to nitpick and the complete willingness to make a fool of herself if it helps to put her students at ease and get her point across. This August she will again take a group of friends and students for a two-week immersion course in Terrasini, near her home overlooking the Mediterranean on the coast of Sicily.
